After megastar Chiranjeevi entered into politics by floating Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) in 2008, there had been a few accusations against the legendary actor that he pocketed huge sums by selling the party tickets to contest the 2009 general elections.
Writer turned actor Posani Krishna Murali, who contested the 2009 elections on PRP ticket, has now ridiculed all such allegations against Chiru and said that megastar didn't pocket a single rupee by selling party tickets. 'Chiru called me and gave me the party ticket for free. He didn't ask for anything in return. He is a very honest person. I was the only person from Telugu film industry to get the ticket as he knew my honesty,' Posani said.
Explaining the reason for his defeat in the elections, 'For the first time, I landed in Chilakaluripeta (Guntur dist. AP) for campaigning. I announced that I won't give a single rupee to them for voting me. I also said that I won't encourage caste politics. However, I promised them that I will make it one of the best constituencies in the state if they make me win. Other contestants spent in crores and so they won'.
'Neither the party gave my any money to distribute to people nor did I ask the party heads. Chiru gave me complete freedom to contest the elections on my terms,' Posani added.
