It's been a while Naga Chaitanya has a theatrical release. After Dohchay, which failed to impress the movie lovers, none of his films have hit the screens. Though Chaitu-starrer Sahasame Swaasaga Sagipo is waiting to see the light of the day, there isn't clarity on when the film (directed by Gautam Menon) would make it.
Meanwhile, Chaitu of late is in news more for personal reasons than his films. However, the good news for Akkineni fans is that Chaitu's much-awaited film Premam, the remake of the Malayalam classic of the same name, is prepping up for Sep release. The film's producers are toying with the idea of releasing the film on Sep 9, say the sources aware of the development.
The film's shooting has been wrapped up and post-production works are going on at blitzkrieg speed. The film marks the interesting combo of Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan who have paired up for the first time. The musical-romantic drama also sees Anupama Parameswaran (of A..Aa fame) and Madonna Sebastian. Both Anupama and Madonna are reprising their roles in the original in the remake.
Director Chandoo Mondeti, who earlier directed Karthikeya, is wielding the megaphone. Premam would be his first remake. Given that Malayalam remake Drushyam worked well in Telugu, let's wait and see how Premam would fare in Telugu.
