Sankranthi 2016 that Telugu Film Industry has completed was one of the most successful and profitable one’s. All four films found appreciation from different segments of audience and two of them went on to be universally accepted blockbusters.
Can the summer ahead with similar diversity in terms of biggies replicate the success of the Sankranthi festival is what everyone is thinking now. We have six films, Oopiri, Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Sarrainodu, Brahmotsavam, A..Aa and Supreme slated to release over a period of forty five days. If we further get into details like the genre and business and box office expectations based on movie casting, it must be said that a replication of Sankranthi 2016 looks nearly impossible.
Couple of biggies are priced way above the ceiling for them to breakeven at normal talk. Nothing short of super hit word of mouth is required for them. Two other films have hero’s going against the image which might affect its box office prospects. Only A..Aa and Supreme look safe at the moment.
Will some of those biggies spring surprise and prove to be massive unimagined success? It can’t be ruled out for sure but let’s see if they have it in them or not.
